Well, long time no see people! Sorry for being such a horrible blogger! I'll try and be better now. Well, here's an update on my life for the last two months. September 20th my bestie Carebear and I started the Biggest Loser at our gym. I wasn't sure about the whole thing when we started, but now that I've reached the end, I've realized that it was an amazing experience. I learned that I had the stamina to do and even though I got sick in the middle of it, I still completed every week and made it to the next. I didn't win the competition, but I still made personal gains which is more important right now. Overall I lost only 7.6 lbs and 4.75 inches, but I feel like I've gained some great new friends and the realization that YES I CAN DO IT!
So now to keep up the hard/good work... I have discovered a great way to burn calories ad have a blast while doing it. It's something probably many people use, but when my sister and I discovered what a great workout it was, we couldn't get enough. It's Just Dance! And now, Just Dance 2! I love it! We got our Wii about a year and a half ago, and when we got Just Dance we were in heaven. Now that we own Just Dance 2, we are set for life. Well... at least until Just Dance 3 comes out, that is. Anyway, that's been one of my favorite additions to this fall's workout regime.
Another exciting new adventure that I've embarked on is my new job! I'm a Title Aid/other job titles at an amazing school. The students I work with are incredible and always making me laugh. I have wonderful coworkers and by getting this job, I'm able to work kids which is my passion and also work on getting healthy. It's win-win overall. Not what I'd initially envisioned for my first job out of school, but really it was what I needed.
So anyway, that's a little insight to what has been happening in Miss V's life since I left y'all two months ago. I'm going to keep Zumba-ing and Just Dancing it up and having fun all at the same time. Talk to you soon! Loves...

Ode to Zumba.... and a bunch of other things too!
Hello everyone! I know, I know, it's been too long! Well this past week has been a little slow, except for the fact that I was a Zumba maniac on Thursday. Whenever I do Zumba, I am all into to it up until about halfway into the class. That's when I have the, "Holy Hades, I'm wiped" moment. And yet, I still am able to stick it out and finish the class. Like Heidi, the instructor, says, "The hardest thing to do is actually come to the class." I'm definitely a person that finds it hard to actually motivate myself to get to the class. That's why I like having my friends there, like Miss Drue, and that way I feel as though I'll be disappointing them if I don't go. It at least holds me accountable for going.
Then Friday came along and I was definitely in a Podunk Mood. This is the mood where you are just trudging along and not really peppy or anything. Then the little blinking light on my phone which indicates an email starts flashing. So I check it and low and behold I’ve won an invite to see a private performance with Steel Magnolia! I think I have what’s called “RandomRadioContestLuck-itis”. It’s real. I promise you. I always seem to win the most random radio contests, like tickets to see Eric Church (TWICE- what are the odds of that??) and now this. Mind you, I never seem to win the tickets to the big shows like Rascal Flatts, Brad Paisley, or Kenny Chesney. But somehow I win the lesser known concerts. LOL-Crazy. So tomorrow I will be taking Miss Drue and we are going to see the performance. YAY!
Anyway, the weekend came and went, nothing of note there, and last night I went to Zumba with my ladies, Miss Drue and Carebear. This was Carebear’s first real Zumba class. She is a very coordinated dancer and can stay to the rhythm…. except in Zumba. She’s not a fan of the Zumba like the rest of us, but she stuck it out last night. YAY! Anyway, this morning I woke up and BOY AM I SORE! The Soreness Fairies are definitely back today. Hopefully it goes away before I go workout with Miss Drue this afternoon.
Oh and exciting news…. I am doing the Race for the Cure 5K! I’ve made a goal to raise $100 for the cause (at minimum) so if you’d like to donate in support of me, here’s the link:

Ode to Soreness
I’m SO sore today and not sure why. Well I kinda have an idea, but not really. Monday I went and a pretty intense workout with Miss Drue. Well, it was intense for me... haha. Anyway, we did the treadmill for 30 minutes during which I ran for 30 seconds of it. I know, most of you probably are probably thinking, "30 seconds?? WEAK." Well, if you know me, then you know I have never been, nor do I never long to be a runner. But, I thought I'd give it a try and so I ran for 30 seconds. Next stop, Boston Marathon. Or not. I think I'll wait on the running thing until I have lost a little weight.
So back to my workout... after the treadmills, we moved to weights. I'm not sure which muscles we worked but I was squeezing, pulling, twisting and crunching my little (well, actually big) butt off. My favorite was probably the twisty turny thing that you kneel on to work your torso. Yes, that is the technical name for the machine. Or something along those lines. Then we went to the upper level to work on abs. Oh joy. I love doing countless crunches. But I surprised myself and tried some new things like the Medicine Ball for example. Miss Drue started me off with a toy ball and I kept think, "I feel like I'm cheating." So I had her help me try the Medicine Ball. Well, 7lbs of ball later, I was able to do it. Not as many reps, mind you, but at least I know I have it in me and can work up to more! WOOHOO! Finally, after a few lunges, some squats and miniature push-ups later, it was stretch time.
On a side note, I went home that night and, using a recipe I found online, baked a Copycat Olive Garden Lemon Cream Cake for my good friend Miss J for her birthday. It had heavy whipping cream, lots of powdered sugar, and of course lemon. So, in other words, loaded with calories. I wish I'd taken a picture of it... it looked great!!
Then, yesterday, I woke up thinking I was going to be uber sore. But I wasn't! I went about my day- went to work, dropped off an application, then went to game night for Miss J's birthday. We had delicious steak and chicken kabobs, as well as vegetable kabobs. Yum! Then came cake time! Woohoo! It was a hit! After that we played "The Game of Things" which is a game night staple. Last night's game, however, was a little less rowdy than usual. The consensus was that my cake put everyone into a sugar coma. *Insert Evil Laugh Here* I'll call the cake my Sugary Stragery. Anyway, we did still have some fun rounds and called a night around 9:30.
This morning when I woke up, I felt oh so sore! I guess the workout fairies were giving me a day to feel good about myself before they came in and made me feel like shitake mushrooms. Well, thank you fairies, but I'd prefer to do without that feeling all together. Tonight the plan is to go with Carebear to the gym, so hopefully I am able to move by then. Here's hoping! Until next time...

Hi-ho, Hi-ho, it's off to BLOG I go....
Well, if I'm not mistaken, I'm onto Day 10 of my journey. 10 down.... 355 to go! haha This week has been a trying one both emotionally and in terms of this journey. I spent the weekend going out to meals left and right (well only two meals, but still....) so I wasn't very good about my goal.
I need to get on this! My bestie seems to be rocking at her mission, so what's my deal? Anyway.... yesterday was an enlightening day for me. First I was HORRIBLE and had a WHOLE Caruso's sandwich. Apparently I was having a fat moment. So then I spen tthe afternoon being somewhat lazy and unproductive, but don't worry I redeemed myself. I went to run some errands and returned a ton of stuff that I'd been putting off, and since it was at Ross I wasn't getting cash back, so I looked around a bit. I found some jeans in the size I used to be.... we won't mention that here.... but I didn't think they'd fit. I was like, "Well, they are super cute, good color.... I'll try them on to see what I have to lose to fit into them." Walked into the fitting room.... put one leg in.... so far so good.... second leg.... better.... the fit in the hips is good.... alright, this could work!.... Then we get to the worst part of the whole fitting room process, the closing of the jeans. And voila! They fit! My butt looks amazing in them and I'm feeling like a million bucks! This totally changed my outlook on the day.
After Ross I went to the grocery store. Obviously I wasn't shopping on an empty stomach since I'd had a big enough lunch to feed a small militia, and since I was feeling all motivated again, I was ready to attack the shopping for the day. Picked up some salad, veggies, and good healthy food. I also stayed away from the yummy bad food too. Yay me! Then I went home, changed for the gym and went to Zumba with my girly, Drue. It was so fun and so hilarious! As my bestie Carrie says, you always feel uncoordinated in the class.... but for me, I love it! I just laugh my way through the class and make up my own moves if I can't figure things out. LOL!
After Zumba I went home and had a salad. So yummy! And a few chicken nuggets.... not so bad since that's the serving size. Haha! So all in all it was decent day.... even though I couldn't walk from the intense Zumba! Well, walking's overrated anyway. lol!
As for today, I started it off thinking to myself, "Alright self, you're not going to get donuts today. You'll have your little bit of chocolate milk, eat your plain Eggo waffle sans syrup and be happy." Then I got to work. My boss, being the generous woman that she is..... PICKED UP DONUTS. SHE ORDERED MY FAVORITE FOR ME. So much for trying to be healthy! haha!!
So now that I've biffed that one.... well the day is not over yet. I can still redeem myself with a walk and some Wii time. I'm excited because tonight I'm going to give my madre a pedi, try and put some organization into my life, and read my new book. :) So off I go to try and not botch another weekend in my journey! I'll let you all know how it goes!

Blogging Overload
Well, I haven't blogged in a week.... not good, I know! It's like I got past the initial high of doing something new.... and ditched my promises! Can we say Dropout?? No! I will not dropout of this like so many other times! I am determined to do this differently! No more excuses! I am going to get my butt in gear and just do it, like Nike! Okay so over the weekend, like I said, I did horribly. I'll totally own up to it. There's no point in denying it because it happened. Can't change the past! But I can start today by feeling refreshed and renewed. Sort of.
Well, off to work. I promise I'll be better about this!

Bridal Shower Blowout
Today is Day 2 of my insane journey. First, I have to start off by saying that I have the most incredible support system! I didn't even realize I had this support until I started this blog. I have been blessed to have so many amazing people in my life. My bestie Carebear has also joined me in this adventure, which is SO exciting! I'll attach a link to her blog too, and you should all check it out as well.
So onto how today is going... let's put it this way... I'm going to have to do some hardcore working out tonight in order to make up for the day. Today was the Bridal Shower for a coworker of mine, Miss R. It was a surprise and since I love party planning I was basically given full reign when it came to the planning for it. Have I mentioned I love my boss?? Anyway, so we had pizza for lunch and of course a cake for dessert. Both were insanely delicious, but also insanely horrible for what I'm trying to do. I just have to remember that it's one day out of the 365 that I messed up and I can just eat healthy tonight. That's one reason why I've "dropped out" of some many diets. I hate the feeling of guilt and defeat when I mess up. So this time, if I mess up, so what? Tomorrow's a new day and I need to be comfortable with myself!
I know many of you probably think I should have a plan for my journey, but I really don't. I decided to do this out of the blue and am kind of going day by day. I'm not following any one particular regimen at this time, but that's not to say that I won't later on.
Well, I'm off to the races... or at least to do my job, so until next time... Loves!
P.S. Here's the link to my bestie's blog: http://cgridley.blogspot.com/. Check it out!!

The Serenity (and Sin!) of Sushi
Well, I went with my mom and V2 to a local sushi restaurant tonight and had the most insane sushi experience ever! First we had Carrot-Ginger Soup, Edamame and these wasabi potato "bombs". They're like panko-covered mashed potato and wasabi yumminess. This was definitely the sinful part of the dinner. Oops! What a way to start my “new life,” right?
After the appetizers, we moved on to the main event! I had a California roll, a bit of Udon Noodles that were deliciously cooked with scallions and butter (also VERY sinful) mixed with a smidgeon of fried rice, and a piece of a Las Vegas roll. Man-oh-man was dinner good!! Thank God I stuck to water the whole evening because otherwise I would’ve had those calories to deal with as well.
So, since I had such a “healthy” dinner… I came home and did some house work of moving heavy things. I figure that was at least a little cardio since it was so late. Right? Baby steps…. Anyway, I’m so blessed to have such supportive family and friends! Thank you to all of you for following me and your supportive comments. Here’s to a completed day ONE! Now onto day two….
